Emerson Rose Craig

Writer, Editor, Reader

Emerson Rose Craig is a writer from Portland Oregon USA. She received her MSc in creative writing from The University of Edinburgh, where she specialized in fiction, and her BA from The Evergreen State College with a major focus in creative writing and a minor focus in art history.

Through her writing, she delves into fantastic and surreal worlds where she can tackle the real world and all of its complicated and strange turns. Her writing can be found in anthologies published by Hillfire Press, WildInk Publishing, and From Arthur’s Seat.

Writing has been a central part of her life since childhood when at the age of seven her mother changed her world when she asked her if she wanted to write a story of her own. In high school, she was introduced to NaNoWriMo and has participated every year since 2011, completing the challenge seven times (now she just has to finish editing one of those projects).

When she is not writing, Emerson spends her time reading. Whether as an editorial reader for CALYX Press, working as a developmental editor, or reading for fun. Always overly ambitious in how many books she can read in a month, Emerson is generally surrounded by large stacks of library books and newly purchased books from independent bookstores. While the majority of the books she reads are fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction; her current reading goal is to read a book set and written by authors from every country in the world.
